You must be Chinese!

Beautiful! Especially the fur!
And I could tell it was winter even before I clicked on the reference link.
(no, nothing to do with coat colour or such, because I know nothing about wolves)

You did a great job with the realism! That is colored pencils, right? What sort of paper or board do you use, if I may ask? :) I have a hard time with paper that ends up showing white texture through the pencil so I am looking for some good board with minimal texture...any suggestions?! Thanks!! <3
moyan Featured By Owner Jan 8, 2012  Professional General Artist
i used the very normal drawing block that school kids used for their art lessons. the very small and small-grained papers do not hold the color pigment of color pencil very well. the rough grains are more adhering but the texture are rough. that could be a good thing though, depends on how you do it.
or you can use water on soluble color pencil.
that way, you do not worry about the colors not adhering to paper.

Great! Thank you for the detailed reply! I will admit to using plain ol watercolors over a colored pencil drawing to fill in those annoying white spaces! :)I like the pastel drawing; thats one of my fave medium but it soooo hard to keep things from just brushing away after all that hard work (unless you frame it). I love the canson papers with the grit to them for charcoal and pastel. I like the glow of the watercolor pencil piece you linked too - very appropriate for a nighttime scene! ^_^

I will look for this drawing block that you speak of! :) Thanks again! :glomp:

Hmmm, this is probably the first picture I've seen from you featuring gore. It doesn't set well with for some reason, maybe because color pencils just don't seem like the appropriate medium for something like that. The wolves, however, look VERY nice.
moyan Featured By Owner Dec 9, 2011  Professional General Artist
The drawing is not meant to be gory. It's just the way wolves live, they have to eat.
Thank you for liking the wolves though. The point of this series is to present the naturally wild but adorable aspects of wolves.
