Description
black and blue chinese ink, with white maxon comic ink.
a long overdue 10k kiriban gift (for haiku account *moyanII ) for ~gondring
but i think it's worth the wait. my friend had given me a very inspiring theme: mountain at night. i took my time to search for references and inspiration. and then, the right time came when i have just the poetic mood to translate the idea into a painting.
the poem in calligraphy by Li Bai (701-762 C.E.), also known as the Poetic Deity from the Tang dynasty:
床前明月光
疑是地上霜
举头望明月
低头思故乡
bright moonlight in front of my bed
i mistake it to be frost on the floor
i raise my head to gaze at the moon
and bow my head in reminiscence of my hometown.
(translation is very literal, sorry about that. i'm unable to come out with an english parallel that rhymes in such a pleasant, sing-song manner of the chinese original.)
only the last two lines were included in the painting.

This is gorgeous! And what a lovely poem, too!
