The Veteran by moyan The Veteran by moyan
"Now this is the law of the jungle, as old and as true as the sky,
And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die."

~The Law for the Wolves by Rudyard Kipling.

when you have lived long enough, you will come to understand that, in order to strive well, obeying rules is as important as enjoying freedom.

to see more traditional drawings of wolves in this series of artwork inspired by kipling's poem, please visit the folder in my gallery: "The Law for the Wolves"

original size is b4 and done by kisshou watercolor paint and chinese ink on XUAN paper, with watercolor and calligraphy brush plus a few dots of maxon white comic ink.
i meant to do everything in this project with pencils, but it should be a good idea to do the very first stanza with something quite different. :)

Fantasmic.

Ohay, did you know that you are so far the only person that i have found who paints coloured ink paintings? I mean, like, i have seen some that are of traditional asian panoramas being sold in shops, but none that are done as non-traditional paintings, without the thick black line of traditional chinese works.

Do you know of any others by any chance? Like, established artists or dA hobbyists or anything like that?

i would think my method is somewhere between the western and oriental style of watercolor painting.
the chinese painting technique of MOGU, (没骨,boneless) could be the type you would like to see.
i also featured some other ink painters in the artist's comment section below the ink paintings i posted. you could take a look at their gallery as well.

This is simply amazing. All of your illustrations for this poem are amazing. (I think this one is my favorite, but [link] is a close second.)

I love how this picture almost has a glowing quality to it. It is complimented very nicely by the earthy colors throughout.
